Community Outreach

Harvard College Project for Asian and International Relations (HPAIR)

HPAIR) was founded in 1991 to create a forum of exchange for students and young professionals to discuss and learn about the most important economic, political, and social issues facing the Asia-Pacific region.

As a selected gold-tier delegate at HPAIR (with an 8% acceptance rate), I discussed and learned about global affairs surrounding the theme of 'Resilience'.

I collaborated with students from across the globe in HPAIR's Impact Challenge, where we formulated solutions to problems faced by the population in Asia during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Some of the notable personalities from across various field that were speakers at the conference were Anne Chow, the CEO of AT&T, Jessica Meir, a marine biologist and physiologist at NASA, and NR Narayana Murthy, a board member at UN Foundation

Progressive Foundation is a non-profit organization that aims at addressing the critical challenges of development and research. On one hand the Foundation works on public health and public education at policy levels with governments, and on the other hand the foundation has been running numerous projects in fields to impact the population on ground and acquire real data and information to feed the policy recommendations to the government.

I volunteered for the foundation's cervical cancer awareness and screening program. The program has, mainly, two objectives:
To improve the Screening rate for Cervical Cancer among the age group of 30-65 years old women, and
To impro
ve the HPV vaccination through Community Mobilization among the eligible Population.
I volunteered at HPV vaccination camps, Cervical Cancer screening camps, and village level awareness camps.

Sambhali Trust Foundation

Sambhali Trust is an institution that has worked tirelessly to change the lives of Rajasthani women by providing them with access to formal education, training in traditional income-generating skills such as handicraft production, as well as arranging and monitoring women’s self-help groups, helping them to save money, have access to loans and create small enterprises of their own.

Along with this, Sambhali Trust has been granted Special Consultative Status by the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations since 2015.

I was associated with Project Garima (Dignity). The project organizes professional support for the members of LGBTQ+ community who suffer physical, mental and financial abuse so that they can combat their vulnerable situation. Organised and participated in the annual Sambhali Pride Parade.

Along with this, I have volunteered at a one-day medical camp organised by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment under the Government of Rajasthan, where nearly 20 members of the LGBTQ+ community also registered themselves for various essential identity cards.

As a volunteer for Aadarsh Program, I have educated girls of ages 8-15 on topics such as good touch-bad touch and menstruation via PPTs. The goal was to educate children, families, and teachers on how to recognize sexual abuse and actions to take to prevent and to respond to abuse.

At Sambhali, we also empower women by teaching them about their human rights and provide refuge, counseling and support in cases of domestic violence, and financial help with legal or medical issues.

Round Square Panna Tiger Reserve

As part of the service project hosted at Panna Tiger Reserve, DAIS students visited Basata and its nearby villages to invite the villagers for the health check-up. Students spoke about the benefits of the health camp, while also de-stigmatising menstrual cycles, helping the women learn hygienic menstrual practices and handing out menstrual pads. At the health camp students worked various roles like measuring blood pressure, height, weight, crowd management, and conducting the eye check-up. Working tirelessly from 10am to 4pm, the students did their best to ensure that everyone who visited the camp was able to receive the help they needed. Interacting with the villagers was truly a humbling experience for me!

English Vinglish Project

The initiative aims to give back to an essential part of school community, the non-teaching staff.

It focuses on assisting the non-teaching staff  i.e. security, administration, house-keeping, and bus staff in building on their spoken English skills.

Through this, we have built a rapport with each other creating a safe and comfortable environment catering to a learning experience that is beneficial for both the non-teaching staff members and the students.
